Bach Jazz

Bach Jazz turns pieces by J. S. Bach into cohesive songs for piano, double bass and drums. The debut album has become a wide favorite and the concerts are praised for their mix of timeless compositions, suggestive swing and warm humanity. Sometimes reminiscent of the Swingel Singer's vocal interpretations of Bach, but instrumental. Now the trio comes to Sara Kulturhus with a brand new album in their luggage. Bach Jazz's debut album in the fall of 2024 started a journey no one could have expected. The trio's organic and playful interpretations of Johann Sebastian Bach's eternal music continue to fascinate and attract new listeners. Bach Jazz has participated in SVT's Go'kväll, Sverige! and in Kulturfrågan Kontrapunkt and their concerts at cultural centers, jazz clubs, in churches and concert halls all over the country - from Piteå to Malmö - have been met with enthusiastic acclaim. Many have made associations with the icon Jan Johansson. In the spring of 2026, Bach Jazz released its second album, where the music is further deepened. The expression remains open and warm, thoughtful and exploratory, but takes on even more aspects of Johann Sebastian Bach's boundless universe. The repertoire ranges from beloved masterpieces to curious experiments. From Goldberg Variations to a tender lullaby and perhaps the very first historical evidence of "agent jazz". Welcome to a melodic, heartfelt and swinging concert. A moment of encounters, concentrated presence and spontaneous whims.
