Stockholm Jazz Festival Liam Elion Live på Nomad! 2026

Nomad invites you to a unique evening with Liam Elion and his band featuring master vibraphonist Mattias Ståhl, presenting jazz interpretations of classics from the Great American Songbook. Liam Elion started playing the trombone at the age of nine, initially studying classical music at the conservatory. He continued his education at the prestigious high-school jazz program at the Thelma Yellin High School of the Arts. Later on, as a member of the Global Jazz Institute directed by Danilo Perez and the Jazz and Gender Justice Institute directed by Terri Lyne Carrington at Berklee College of Music Liam studied under Joe Lovano, John Pattituci, Linda May Han Oh, George Garzone, Kris Davis, and many more. He has performed alongside great musicians like Tony Malaby, Ben van Gelder, Daniel Fredriksson, Karin Hammar and Doug Johnson. Mattias Ståhl is born 1971 in Oskarshamn, Sweden and lives in Stockholm. Have the last 20 years performed at stages around Sweden and elsewhere, focusing on jazz and improvised music. Released two album of his own with his former quartet Ståhls blå ("Ståhls blå" 2001 and "Schlachtplatte" 2004), which achieved great attention from reviewers all over the world. He also composed all the music for this group. As a sideman he contributes in a lot of exciting groups, from working bands as Martin Küchens Angles and norwegian-swedish I.P.A. with Magnus Broo/Atle Nymo/Håkon Mjåset Johansen/Ingebrigt Håker Flaten, to projects with legends Georg Riedel, Per Texas Johansson and swedish indie wonder Emil Svanängen aka Loney Dear.
